EAMS Group has recently begun working with Amtrak, providing strategic guidance and advice for constructing a network linear model for their track asset group.
Amtrak is a passenger railroad service in America, they provide medium and long distance intercity service, reaching more than 500 destinations in 46 states and operating over 300 trains a day.
Amtrak’s cross-asset discipline linear model will be one of the largest and most comprehensive linear asset models in the world. It will define spatial relationships between assets across functional boundaries, enabling it to be modelled and managed as an interacting system for the first time. Visibility of causal relationships, of fault density, integrated condition monitoring and dynamically segmented asset attribute data will allow engineers to understand the composition and condition of the railway. This will enable maintenance and renewals decisions to be based on information driven directly from the asset data held within the EAM single source of truth. Implementation of planned preventative maintenance routines through linearly defined routes will reduce over-maintenance and improve safety. The linear model is the foundation onto which true predictive maintenance will be built.
Amtrak is one of the largest, well-known, and integral public transport systems in the world, and we are delighted to be working with them so that we can help them provide a world class service for their passengers.
