This week 100 influential professionals in the Rail Industry came to London from around the country to attend the Digital Railway Summit. The Summit focused on the issue of digitalisation and how to bring the UK Rail Industry to the forefront of digital development.
The two key topics were:
- The ‘Visible’ Digital Railway
- The ‘Invisible’ Digital Railway
David Gate, our Head of BIM, IoT and Visualisation and Richard White, our Director of Strategic Advisory had been asked to present at the event and share their expertise and industry insights. Their session, ‘What is the Internet of Things’ covered the basic fundamentals of IoT and delved into how Rail Organisations can utilise IoT as part of their wider Asset Management activities to harness this technology and reap the benefits.
Other talks covered advanced signalling systems, cyber security & smart ticketing. One talk which sparked plenty of debate was about the challenges that lie ahead for the industry in adopting digital technology and advancements with traditional procurement and contract arrangements.
It was a well run and engaging event – if you would like to learn about how IoT can benefit your organisation please contact us for further information.
